Wedding dress embellishments
Embellishments on a wedding dress are otherwise known as the finishing touches. They can instantly elevate any gown and they are what makes each wedding dress unique. It can be hard to know what embellishments you might want on your dress as each give an entirely different look. So here, we’re going to explain everything you need to know about the most common wedding dress embellishments. All images used in this blog post are from Enzoani.
BEADING
Crystal and glass beads are the most popular beaded embellishments, and they come in a variety of different shapes and sizes. Beading is usually applied in a set pattern or arrangement that is designed to flatter your shape. For just a hint of detailing, consider applying them to areas like the neckline, bodice or to your straps. Alternately, if you’re a fan of sparkle, a fully-beaded gown will ensure you make a statement on the big day.

SEQUINS
Sequins are the ideal detail for the bride seeking to add subtle sparkle to her gown. These clear shiny disks catch the natural light and add glimmer to a wedding dress, not full-on sparkle. What makes them so gorgeous is that whilst standing still, your guests won’t really notice them. It’s only until you begin to move about that they will glisten and really bring the dress to life.

LACE APPLIQUES
Lace appliqués are pieces of fabric cut into different shapes such as flowers, leaves or swirls, which are then attached onto the dress. They can add dimension if placed in locations like on a plunging neckline or an open back. They will also add a more traditional feel when added to a plain tulle skirt. Most lace appliqués are usually ivory/white and are sewn onto sheer or nude coloured fabric. Appliqués are a great option for any bride wanting to cover certain areas up e.g an illusion back.

WAISTBANDS
Waistbands are the perfect addition for any bride wanting to draw in her waist or add a small section of detail. The most popular waistbands are the ones with rhinestones, crystals or beading. By simply adding this, you will enhance your bridal look instantly. They are also a good way to lift a more minimalist dress without taking away the classic, clean cut effect.

BUTTONS
Buttons may seem like a classic addition to your dress, but they can also feel fresh and romantic. If you’re looking for some pretty back detail, consider using buttons along the centre back of your gown. For the more glam bride, crystal buttons are the way to go for adding that extra sparkle. If you’ve got a more vintage theme, try adding pearl buttons.
